FAQs

Can I apply to an open RN position on a particular unit?

No; Registered Nurses with less than 1 year of experience should apply only to "RN Resident" positions.

Who do I address my cover letter to?

Address cover letters to 'Nurse Recruiter'. Please ensure that the cover letter is geared toward Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare and not another organization.

Who do I send my letters of reference to?

Letters of reference are not required to apply for a position. Should you choose to include references, you may upload as an attachment during the application process. You may also bring references to your face to face interview with the department.

I have applied to an RN Resident position, what happens now and when will I hear from someone?

Once you have submitted an online application, you will receive an email notification saying that the application was submitted. Please give your application time to be reviewed and processed. You will hear from a Recruiter should your background and experience be a match for our current openings. Turnaround time for a response is usually 3 business days.

When is the application deadline for the Immersion Residency?

There is no deadline, however it is highly recommended to apply as soon as the positions open. Positions typically open two months following the previous cohort start date. For example, if you intend to start in January, positions will typically open in October (following the September group). Positions may continue to open and close until all positions are filled.

Do you accept out of state applicants?

Yes! LPDS accepts qualified RN Residents from out of state who are serious in a position and plan to move to the El Paso area prior to the cohort date.

If you are actively in the process of relocating to the area please indicate that upon applying. It’s a good idea to visit the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners website, as well as your own state Board of Nursing for information on obtaining Texas licensure. This process can delay your start date if not completed appropriately so please think ahead.

What specialties/departments are hiring?

This can vary depending on vacancies at the time of each cohort. The information above lists specialties that have hired RN Residents for past cohorts.

What if I don’t see a specialty/department that I am interested in?

Not all departments accept RN Residents for every cohort. The positions are very competitive. We encourage you to apply for your 1st and 2nd choice. It is a good idea to check back to the website for the most up to date list of open positions.

The application asks if I have graduated. I am still in school and intend to graduate prior to the program start date. How do I answer this question?

You may answer it 'NO'. We are well aware you intend to graduate. You should apply in your last semester of school, and scheduled to graduate prior to the program start date.
