StaRN Nurse Residency Program

StaRN stands for Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses. The StaRN Program is perfect if you are a recent nursing school graduate. StaRN provides a pathway for a new RN to transition into the practice with a strong core of nursing fundamentals and critical thinking skills. We invite new graduates to apply for a unique opportunity to receive didactic and clinical training in almost all areas of nursing. This program will allow you to obtain experience through an intensive internship program and then transition to staff roles. All who successfully complete the StaRN program will transition into full-time roles at the hospital & department they are selected for during the initial interview process. The program is designed for MedSurg, Telemetry, Step Down Care, ICU, ER and Perioperative OR.

Program Details

This is an intensive 13-week program. The first six to seven weeks include a combination of didactic education, simulation lab and skills training. The remaining weeks are spent in preceptorship at the sponsoring facility working with a clinical preceptor. All learners are required to be present and on-time each day. There is a significant amount of instruction provided each day. The material builds upon itself each week. There are no make-ups in StaRN. All learners are expected to come to class daily prepared with laptop and stethoscope, dressed appropriately, and with a professional, engaged, and courteous attitude at all times.
