The HCA Gulf Coast Division team is looking for new nurses to join our StaRN Acute Care Nurse Residency Program.
HCA Gulf Coast Division is an affiliation of hospitals serving greater Houston area and South Texas. We share a mission, a commitment to the communities we serve and a standard of excellence for providing compassionate patient care.
Serving such a large and diverse region requires HCA Gulf Coast Division to offer a range of programs that meets the needs of people of all ages with conditions ranging from acute to chronic illnesses.
With 16 acute care and specialty hospitals, freestanding emergency rooms, ambulatory surgery centers, and more than 16,000 employees, HCA Gulf Coast Division offers patients access to a circle of care that is unique in the region. We bring comprehensive care close to home, including advanced medical care, education, and community outreach.
By joining together as a network, hospitals are able to focus on improving outcomes and enhancing services for their own communities, while pooling resources for other functions like staffing and systems management.
StaRN stands for Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses. The StaRN Program is perfect if you are a recent graduate, or have less than a year or no acute care facility experience. StaRN provides a pathway for a new RN to transition into the practice with a strong core of nursing fundamentals and critical thinking skills. We invite new graduates and nurses with less than a year or no acute care facility experience to apply for a unique opportunity to receive didactic and clinical training in almost all areas of nursing. This program will allow you to obtain experience through an intensive internship program and then transition to staff roles. All who successfully complete the StaRN program will transition into full-time roles at the hospital & department they are selected for during the initial interview process.
This program can last anywhere from 10-24 weeks depending on the department you are hired in to. The program consists of didactic, online coursework and simulation labs. During the first part of the training (5-11 weeks), the schedule will consist of a 40-hour workweek taking place during typical business hours, Monday-Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM at a centralized location. The second part of the training will be a preceptorship consisted of 12-hour shifts at the hospital you were hired at. Attendance is imperative and all days are required to remain in the program. No missed days will be accepted.
