Every day, we seek to raise the bar higher, not just for ourselves, but for healthcare everywhere.

HCA Healthcare is one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services with 182 hospitals and 2,300+ sites of care, including surgery centers, freestanding ERs, urgent care centers, home health and hospice agencies, and physician clinics, in 20 states and the United Kingdom.

Every day, more than 283,000 colleagues go to work with a collective focus: our patients. Our focus positively impacts the care experience at the bedside and beyond.

As a learning health system, HCA Healthcare analyzes data from more than 35 million patient encounters each year. This data helps develop technologies and best practices that improve patient care. We also share our learnings with the larger healthcare community and government agencies to improve care everywhere.

Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr.

From the beginning, HCA Healthcare founders Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., Dr. Thomas Frist, Jr. and Jack Massey envisioned creating a healthcare company with the scale, resources and clinical expertise to provide patient-focused care at a time when many communities were growing rapidly and needed more access to healthcare. In 1968, they formed Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) – one of the first hospital companies in the United States.
