Job Summary and Qualifications

The Business Operations Director for Hospice directs the day-to-day business operations of the hospice program. This includes playing a significant role in managing both the revenue cycle and long-range planning efforts and supporting the mission and values or the hospice program.

What you will do in this role: 

  • Develops annual operating and capital budgets along with the Hospice Director. Anticipates and minimizes negative budget variances and deficits. Meets and exceeds budget censes goals for the hospice. Explores means of revenue enhancement and expense reduction on an ongoing basis.
  • Collaborates with department heads in the establishment and negotiation of facility, hospital and vendor contracts. Maintains database of facility, hospital, vendor and physician contact files.
  • Ensures that required pre-billing documentation including, all data for EOB, is submitted by field staff and uploaded by Team Assistants.
  • Maintains records related to the hospice program state license, Medicare and Medicaid Certification, CHAP accreditation and any renewal and/or update process to maintain licenses, certifications and accreditations.
  • Assists the national office in maintaining hospice liability, property, fidelity, compensation, insurance policies and packages; renewals annually.
  • Acts as a contact for all staff, residents, prospects, community organizations, government agencies and the public.

What qualifications you will need: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5 years of operations experience required

Our Care teams include physicians, nurses, therapists, hospice aides and social workers. Also, music therapists, spiritual counselors, volunteers and bereavement specialists are part of the care team. Our services include regular scheduled visits and on-call support. Patients can receive hospice care at home or a skilled nursing center. Hospice care is also available at an independent or assisted living community or a hospital.
