HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, a 221-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center, serves the communities of Seminole and West Volusia counties. The hospital provides the only full-service cardiovascular program in Seminole and West Volusia, including open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac rehabilitation and comprehensive diagnostic services. Other specialized services include orthopedic and spine care, robotic surgery, acute inpatient medical rehabilitation and complete imaging services .
 
HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital is located 3.6 miles east of I-4 between S.R. 46 and Highway 17-92 in Sanford.  Job Summary:
 
Performs assessment and reassessment of the patient’s physical condition and nursing needs; develops, implements and communicates patient's Plan of Care with patient.  Sets goals, and takes appropriate nursing action to meet those goals.  Ensures patient’s physical, emotional and rehabilitative needs are met.  Encourages patients’ involvement with their own care. Also:
 
  • Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the diagnostic Imaging patient.
     
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in care of patients undergoing cardiac catherization, and special procedures in Radiology, Stress Lab, ECT or on the nursing units.
     
  • Assess for presence of implants (ICD, Pacers, Valves).  Assesses cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, renal and peripheral vascular status when accepting patients into area.  Documents finding and notifies physician of any changes/abnormalities.
     
  • Demonstrates utilization of the Nursing Process in planning the care of the patient; ensuring all of the patient safety standards are incorporated in the care of the patient. Shows how process will be done; provides instruction where necessary.

    Receives, interprets and implements physician orders accurately and in a courteous manner.  Consults resources in clarifying unfamiliar or questionable orders.
     
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, patient conferences and in-service presentations as appropriate.  Completes annual competency training, including but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS, and OSHA standards (PPE, First Aid and Blood-borne Pathogens, Hazard Communications, Emergency Procedures and Job Safety).
 
Experience:
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN ; BSN preferred.
  • Previous 1+ yrs minimum experience in Special Procedures, Interventional Radiology, ER, or Critical Care experience.
  • 30 Minute call window required 
  • Current Florida State Registered Nurse license. Current FL RN license required or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS required and ACLS Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
