OR Supply Tech

Shift: Days (No Weekends) 

Medical City Lewisville


Under the direction of the Director of Peri-Operative Services, the Sterile Supply Coordinator assists in providing supplies to the Surgical Services Departments.  As assigned, this may include inventory, ordering, stocking and PAR management of disposable supplies used by the Operating Room and Anesthesia.


  1. Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.
  2. Supplies:
    1. As assigned:
      1. Daily inventory count of supplies in supplies room, specialty carts and rooms, and exchange carts.
      2. Orders supplies daily per par level on computer.
      3. Receives supply order from Materials Management.
      4. Restocks ordered supplies and those supplies returned to the supply room.
      5. Rotates stock supplies when restocking.
      6. Checks out dates of stocked supplies.
      7. Restock Irrigation fluids daily with correct expiration dates (requires access to medication area)
      8. Assists in pulling surgical cases.
      9. Communicates back orders and/or stock out alerts to the Clinical Coordinators and Business Office Coordinator.
      10. Assists in communication to OR Staff changes/substitutions in supply items and storage areas.
      11. Helps keep supply rooms and carts clean and orderly.
      12. Responsible for inventory.
    2. Able to pull up preference sheets for OR procedures.
    3. Assist in orientation/training new ASSOCATES.
    4. Attend Staff meetings of department.
    5. Participate in performance improvement activities.
      1. Assist with educational activities.
      2. Responsible for related competencies.
      3. Knowledgeable of The Joint Commission requirements for storage of sterile supplies.
  3. Seeks opportunities to improve department or interdepartmental processes.
  4. Serves as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care or service of department.
  5. Takes appropriate measures contributing to safety within the facility.
  6. This position may be involved in the responsibility for performing high-level disinfection and/or        sterilization.  They will be required to meet initial and annual competencies to ensure the process is performed accurately.


  1. Education
    1. Associate Degree Preferred
  2. Experience
    1. Require at least one year of experience in Hospital Materials Management, Sterile Processing, or Surgical Technologist or related field.
  3. Special Qualifications:
    1. Ability to communicate effectively.
    2. Basic computer skills.
    3. Integrity to work with confidential information.
    4. Ability to follow established procedures.
    5. Ability to work independently.
    6. Ability to handle stress.
    7. Must possess good interpersonal skills.
    8. Must be committed to quality service and patient care.
    9. Ability to demonstrate flexibility in response to unexpected needs of the department.


Degree of Supervision Required:  Involves general guidance, supervision, and directions by Director of Peri-operative Services.  The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently, and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
