Position Summary

Patient Transporters are responsible for the safe and expeditious transport of customers and supplies to and from locations throughout the campus. Collaborates with other members of the health care delivery team including physicians, to deliver quality healthcare. 

 

Major Responsibilities

Note: The following is a list of the essential functions of the job.

 

Essential Functions

Participate in the unit based Quality Improvement process.

Patient transporters are required to operate and maintain (cleanliness/safety) various types of patient transport systems (beds, specialty chairs, stretchers, and wheelchairs) along with their associated support equipment (e.g., oxygen tanks and regulators, IVs with poles, pumps, bed inflation units, and tubes)

In the outpatient setting: Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies necessary to assemble patient information folders.

Practices, develops, and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.

Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.

Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.

Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system.  Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.

Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education, training, and competency assessments. 

Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.

Other duties as assigned.
