The OB Scrub Tech is responsible for providing care to patients under the direction of the RN, utilizing the nursing process.
Essential Functions
· | Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique, instruments, and supplies needed for surgical cases as well as vaginal deliveries. |
· | Communicates, interacts, and participates in teamwork on the unit. |
· | Communicates and participates in patient care activities in direct conjunction with the RN. |
· | Maintains and practices quality patient care through effective use of resources and personnel. |
· | Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. |
· | Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered. |
· | Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues. |
· | Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patients’ right to privacy by protecting confidential information. |
· | Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm. |
· | Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety. |
· | Other duties as assigned. |
Education & Experience | ||
• | Completion of a surgical technician program | Required |
• | Prior acute care OB Scrub Tech experience | Preferred |
Licenses & Certifications | ||
• | Surgical Technologist certification | Preferred |
• | BLS or BCLS - American Red Cross or American Heart Association | Required |
