HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is a 218-bed acute care hospital proudly serving Bay County and surrounding communities for 40 years. The hospital was recently named a Joint Commission Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® – heart failure, heart attack, pneumonia, surgical care, and perinatal care – for the fourth consecutive year and has achieved certifications for its stroke and wound care.  Located in Panama City, Florida, its team of more than 450 providers and 1,000 employees work to ensure patients receive the highest quality of care every day. With the area’s only designated Pediatric ER, four-bed Pediatric ICU and 28-bed NICU, the hospital is ready to care for our youngest residents. The hospital has the only Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI as recognized by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. Additionally, the hospital’s cancer program is accredited by the Commission on Cancer and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). These designations enhance the hospital’s quality of care and demonstrate its commitment to higher, measurable standards of care.

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Endoscopic Surgical Technicians are individuals who function as members of the surgical team in the role of service line specialists. Endoscopic surgical technicians function in the role of endoscopic resource as well as Surgical Technicians when needed. The basic function of the Endoscopic Surgical Technician (EST) is to be present in the operating room suite to ensure endoscopic services are provided to the hospital in a quality and efficient manner that meets hospital policy requirements. The EST assists the operating room staff in preparing the operative suite for surgery by providing all requested equipment for the scheduled operative procedure. The EST ensures quality of care by cleaning, maintaining and reporting any deficiencies to the Endoscopic Specialist.

 

ESSENTIAL CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Patient and family support
  • Patient safety-identification, fall prevention, skin and wound program
  • Transports, positions and drapes patients for procedures
  • Chain of Command
  • Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
  • Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner
  • Sets up computer charting for physicians daily

 


EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology preferred.

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current BLS at hire. Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:  Two years of experience as a surgical technologist preferred.

  • Analytical skills including a working knowledge of basic statistics and statistical analysis methodologies.
  • Knowledge of body substance isolation.
