HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, A Part of HCA Florida Ocala Hospital  opened in 2002 to meet the healthcare needs of the growing population of West Marion County. Our 186-bed hospital features all private rooms and offers a full-service emergency room, as well as Marion County’s only inpatient Orthopedic Joint Care Center.

Our medical services include an array of surgical procedures, radiological services, urologic treatments, inpatient wound care for chronic wounds and a variety of outpatient services.

  1. BASIC FUNCTION:
  1. Support PCMC’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities

            Under the general direction of the Surgical Services Director, is responsible for transportation of            patients to and from the hospital department into the Operating Room.

  1. The Transporter is responsible for coordinating with a variety of medical professionals to take patients from their rooms to various locations for X-rays, scans, surgery and other medical tests or procedures. This can mean helping patients in and out of bed, or using wheelchairs, stretchers and medical transport vans to get them from the emergency room to a room, from one room to another, or down to the lobby for checkout. In addition they may also assist with room preparation and cleaning.
  1. SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Consistently deliver the best in customer service and patient care.  As a team member, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors and other employees
  2. Champion PCMC’s mission, vision and values; comply with the policies and procedures, ethical standards and code of conduct set forth by the company
  3. Transport patients.
  4. Assist with patient care.
  5. Clean Operating Rooms as requested.                                   
  6. Orders supplies, performs inventory functions, equipment, instrument care and maintenance
  7. Reports supply and equipment needs to the manager and distributes items to appropriate area (Linens, Fluids, and patient care items).
  8. Collect soiled equipment and cleans all equipment according to standard procedures and check for proper operation.
  9. Maintains a very clean work area including all transport stretchers.
  10. Assists in the orientation of new personnel to the unit as instructed by the manager
  11. Transport of human tissues, specimens, and cultures to other departments within the hospital or to PDIC Radiology Department.

Education: Graduation from High School.  

 

Experience: One year experience as a Health Care Provider preferred with a very good knowledge of Operating Room procedures.  Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards of Biohazards preferred

Licensure,

Certification, and/or

Registration: CPR

 

Other Minimum

Qualifications: The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory, or visual fashion is essential.  The primary method to express or exchange ideas is through the spoken word.  Written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are required for the position.  Current with operating room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies and equipment; Demonstrates the ability to process sterile trays using proper procedures
