Job Summary and Qualifications

As a PBX Operator, you will be responsible for using a multi-line phone system, answering, transferring and connecting calls to appropriate extensions or departments and paging hospital personnel as required. You will also be responsible for initiating communication procedures for emergencies or codes.

• You will answer and transfer incoming calls from both internal and external callers in a timely fashion with strong customer service skills
• You will provide information to callers as requested or ask suitable questions to best refer the caller to the appropriate hospital personnel or department
• You will direct visitors to appropriate patient areas in a courteous manner
• You will be responsible for maintaining the on-call assignments and paging staff
• You will monitor alarm systems and execute paging for emergency communication procedures and alarm signals
• You will have strong knowledge of hospital codes and alarms and the effect they have on patient care and safety, and coordinate emergency code responses assuring the proper personnel is notified

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

• 6 months of previous experience in a similar PBX operator role or operating a multiline phone systems

Education

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
