Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), you will perform the daily routine/critical care and diagnostic procedures as ordered by the Physician. Further, you will be responsible for performing basic equipment maintenance, quality control measures, and other administrative, technical, or miscellaneous relevant tasks as might be required.

  • You will demonstrate knowledge, clinical application and indications for various Oxygen and Aerosol Therapeutic Regimens
  • You will demonstrate knowledge, clinical application and indications for Airway Pressure Therapy techniques
  • You will demonstrate knowledge clinical application and indications for Chest Percussion and Postural Drainage techniques
  • You will demonstrate knowledge and techniques of patient assessment, including auscultation and Pulse Oximetry
  • You will demonstrate knowledge and clinical application of the Volume Ventilators, both Invasive and Noninvasive Ventilation, and orient to Ventilator used at this facility in first 90 days

Experience

  • Minimum of one year clinical experience, which may have been during student clinical rotation

Education

  • Associate’s Degree from accredited Respiratory Care Program or equivalent

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) authority of National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) authority of Texas Medical Board
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David’s HealthCare policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire as per St. David’s HealthCare policy

St. David’s South Austin Medical Center is an acute-care facility in central Texas with more than 300 patient beds. The hospital is known in the community for its nationally accredited oncology program – the Sarah Cannon Blood Cancer Center, home to the area’s only adult bone marrow transplant program – and Level II trauma center. The facility’s full range of specialized services includes cardiovascular care and rehabilitation, imaging services, women’s services, joint replacement and orthopedics, surgical services including weight loss surgery, wound care, emergency care, cancer care, nutrition services, and a sleep disorder center. The hospital operates three full-service emergency centers.

 

St. David’s South Austin Medical Center is part of St. David’s HealthCare, which is one of the largest healthcare systems in Texas and the third-largest employer in the Austin area.
