Job Summary and Qualifications

The duties and responsibilities of the EEG Technologist include, but are not limited to:

• Performs routine, sleep and portable EEG studies as well as cerebral death studies on adult, neonatal and pediatric patients according to the policies and procedures of the EEG lab.
• Ensures quality patient care is provided within the defined area of accountability of doing EEG procedures.
• Distributes EEG reports to inpatients’ charts, mails outpatient reports to the ordering physician
• Actively participates in continuing education within the field of Neurology/EEG.
• Serves as a liaison for EEG lab to promote physician, interdepartmental and intra departmental relationships.
• Assures all EEG reports are available for the physician to read on a daily basis.
• Assures customer services to include; respect, courtesy, compassion and confidentiality.
• Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Uses appropriate patient education documentation modality.

Required - Minimum of 1 year experience as EEG technologist; completion of electroencephalographic technology program.

Preferred - Two years’ experience with pediatric and adult patients as EEG Technologist with completion of EEG Technology Program, Registered EEG technologist. 

Required - Graduate of EEG Technology program and/or some college with emphasis in math and sciences or nursing background.

Preferred - Graduate of EEG program with EEG certification and college credits with emphasis in math and sciences.  

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Vocational School Graduate
