LewisGale Medical Center (LGMC) delivers quality care to our patients located in the beautiful mountainous region of Southwest Virginia.  LGMC is a 521-bed acute care facility and is the largest hospital in the LewisGale Regional Health System (LGRHS).  LewisGale is also ranked among the top hospitals in Virginia and the nation for benchmarked quality cancer care, patient safety and satisfaction and health outcomes.  

Job duties and responsibilities for this role will include:

• Perform routine daily and monthly tasks and facilitate financial discussions and analyses.
• Build and maintain close working relationships with operations departments to assess and report performance.
• Analyze variances to budget and historical trends.
• Develop and coordinate scheduled and ad hoc data and analysis requests across operational units.
• Assist in the development of financial data collection and measurement tools.
• Gather data and perform analysis on performance improvement projects including cost analysis to support operations.
• Support revenue enhancement projects.
• Prepare and analyze Monthly Operating Report for executive management.
• Assist in preparing reports and presentations for business plans, financial proforma, annual budget, and board meetings.
• Design reports that communicate performance, identify issues, and contribute to better management decisions.
• Reconcile specific Balance Sheet accounts monthly.
• Prepare reclass and accrual entries monthly.
• Assist in completion of annual tax and cost report workpapers.
• Other duties as assigned by Controller / Assistant Controller.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, personal initiative and motivation to achieve the goals of the department.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree with focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics or another Business-related field, required.
• Equivalent work experience may substitute degree requirement.

EXPERIENCE

•  1 or more years of experience in relevant financial analysis preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail required.
• Knowledge of healthcare accounting and operations is helpful.
