Medical City Plano is a full-service, 513-bed acute care hospital with more than 2,070 employees and over 1,466 physicians on staff, representing over 70 specialties and subspecialties. Medical City Plano is the first hospital in Dallas, Collin, or Denton Counties to be awarded Comprehensive Stroke Center accreditation by the State of Texas, and is the first and only Level I Trauma Center in Collin Country. The Brain & Spine Hospital at Medical City Plano provides world-renowned neuroscience care, including advanced treatments for brain cancer, life-saving interventions for stroke patients, as well as treatments for scoliosis and other complex spine disorders.

The Patient Advocate's role is to promote positive patient and family centered care by serving as an advocate of service excellence for patients, family members, physicians, and guests along with promoting and influencing a healthy work environment for staff.

  • Responds to situations involving patient dissatisfaction with services being provided.
  • Works with hospital staff to resolve customer issues as they occur.
  • Rounds with patients to determine if level of service being provided meets expectations.
  • Works with director to ensure timely resolution of patient complaints on the Resolve System.
  • Functions as "All-In" facilitator for the facility.
  • Works with Director of Guest Relations/Volunteers to enhance and positively impact HCHAPS scores related to service excellence.
  • Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment are required.
  • Primary duty is predominantly intellectual in character.
  • Generates hospital reports to provide information on Patient Experience Related Information, i.e. HCHAPS, Core Measures, Rounding. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree required within 12 months. 

Experience with patient advocacy, conflict resolution and customer relations required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, diplomacy, problem solving, mediation, data management, and computer skills.
