We are teaching and research facility, offering Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs in podiatry, surgery and internal medicine. Job Descriptions:
To provide safe and effective nursing care to all patients utilizing the nursing process. The Emergency Department Technician (EDT) also is responsible for the direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering said patient care.
  • Administers therapies as designated by the RN, in accordance with the physician order 100% of the time.
  • Documents vital signs, intake and output, use of monitors and non-invasive blood pressure machines, IV initiation and specimens.
  • Demonstrates competency in Intravenous insertion, phlebotomy and specimen labeling per hospital policy.
  • Transfer of patients from the ED as per policy.
  • Assesses individual patient rooms and unit environment for safe/sanitary conditions; stocks as needed and equipment checks every shift.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school for paramedics or completion of emergency technician program and/or equivalent
  • Current EMT or Paramedic license from the State of Florida required
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider card from the American Heart Association
  • Completion of a basic arrhythmia course preferred
