Division Director of Quality Service Lines – Quality Management

What you will do in this role:

  • Provides assistance to the hospital Quality & Patient Safety department and senior management (facility and division) in a professional and timely fashion.
  • Directs activities of GCD division teams as needed. Functions effectively as a team member and a team leader.
  • Is aware of and participates in the Corporate Ethics and Compliance Program.
  • Assists division facilities in improving processes by providing consultative services that assure a proactive versus reactive approach.
  • Develops, identifies and analyzes data and information for division-wide initiatives. Assists customers in appropriate utilization of data from process improvement.
  • Directs and leads activities of the division Quality Team in collaboration with the DVPQ, AVPQ, and the CMO.
  • Assists facilities with problem solving and process improvement related to regulatory compliance issues, risk management and other improvement activities such as eCQMS.
  • Assists facilities with TJC survey preparation including assisting with implementation of recommendations from corporate QRS findings.
  • Directs the resolution of TJC or other regulatory issues that have system wide impact as directed by supervisor.
  • Supports the activities of key division improvement/strategic teams including but not limited to Quality, Patient Safety, Medical Staff, Infection Prevention, Division Perinatal Committee, Division Infection Control, Division Pharmacy, Division Emergency Preparedness and Specialty ADHOC Committees.
  • Provides and coordinates quality improvement and regulatory related education for hospital and medical staff as deemed necessary by senior management.
  • Orients new Quality & Patient Safety facility leaders to division processes.
  • Represents the division at corporate meetings upon request of leadership.
  • Responsible for oversight and development of performance score cards, to track results and processes for key clinical services /product lines.  Performs targeted audits for validation. In collaboration with DVPQ/AVPQ, translates operational needs into information requirements. 
  • Acts as expert resource and Subject Matter Expert, regarding design, data collection and interpretation and consultation of quality related metrics and measures.  
  • Serves as Division subject matter expert in the EHR.   Supports project execution and monitors measures of success. 
  • Obtains, analyzes, organizes and interprets data into actionable findings recommendations and improvements.  Works with identified facilities to improve performance and decrease variance in key quality and patient safety processes.
  • Researches best practice; identifies and develops proactive reporting to assist healthcare leaders to anticipate future clinical quality operational trends.
  • Reviews and analyzes standardized reports; oversight of action plans on variances.
  • Assists with Physician performance data and metrics.
  • Responsible for utilization of multiple HCA data applications.


What qualification you will need:


  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred.


  • Clinical background preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ previous experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, and/or risk management preferred.
  • Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, etc.
  • Progressive management experience required.
  • Prior experience with The Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory standards and with organization-wide survey preparation required.
  • Prior experience with data analysis in a healthcare setting. Training/teaching experience in quality/patient safety/risk management preferred.
  • Prior experience in healthcare quality data management improvement tools and methods preferred.
  • Prior experience in project management, LEAN, or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expert level skill with Microsoft Office suite and proficiency in database management and query tools required.
  • Knowledge and application of statistical analyses, including financial and clinical variance analysis.
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and executive on a tactical basis.
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Other Qualifications.

  • Licensure/certification/registration:  Certification in Quality (CPHQ), Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred.  Project Management Professional (PMP) or LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) certified.
  • Quality management and/or patient safety techniques, team leadership, group facilitation and statistical/data analysis skills required.
