As the Senior Director, Group Buys, you will be responsible for managing the HealthTrust capital equipment group buy program and other assigned responsibilities related to HealthTrust’s capital equipment services program.   Objective is to collaborate with members to understand capital inventory, budgets, and needs and then develop and execute sourcing initiatives that drive compelling value through aggregated capital group buy negotiations with contracted supplier partners.

In this role you will be responsible for the below activities:

  • Ability to independently plan and execute project timelines for group buy program, with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to be highly efficient and productive, demonstrating high volume of group buys handled without sacrificing on quality/results.
  • Understanding or aptitude to learn the product categories assigned and how end-users interface with the products.
  • Understanding or demonstrated ability to learn in-depth aspects of portfolio.
  • Know and be able to use knowledge about supplier to develop strategies, create leverage, mitigate risks, anticipates direction of the market and potential supplier direction.
  • Assess member capital asset/inventory information, capital budgets and/or capital needs to identify aggregation opportunities to negotiate either multi-member group buys or single-member bulk buys.
  • Collaborate with contracted supplier partners to assess group buy or promotional opportunities based on supplier quarterly/fiscal sales periods, new product launches, product end-of-life schedules or other market drivers that may precipitate aggregation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with national sourcing team to ensure planned group buy strategies align with national contracting strategies.
  • Thorough understanding and accountability for the sourcing process for the group buy program.  Including the solicitation and negotiation of price proposals or other member identified requirements that must be negotiated to achieve the desired group buy result. 
  • Communicate group buy results to members through contract launch communications and materials.
  • Based on contracting work plan, individual may be assigned to lead national contracting initiatives and would be required to oversee national contract sourcing process and negotiations for assigned initiatives
  • Maintain timely achievement of all assigned sourcing initiatives ensuring activities adhere to all established policies and procedures and standards of business conduct.
  • Oversee supplier relationship during the group buy sourcing process. 
  • Ensure supplier implements, reports and tracks group buy activity per HealthTrust requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with senior level supplier contacts.
  • Build strong customer relationships through frequent interaction (all levels, including executive).
  • As necessary, serve as a capital equipment subject matter expert to advise members on a variety of issues related to capital equipment management (budget/planning; acquisition, management, disposition).
  • Management of HealthTrust’s capital equipment member facing website to deliver important capital equipment information to members in a friendly, easy to use forum.
  • Communication of group buy program benefits, group buy calendar/schedule, group buy results.
  • Communication with suppliers during group buy negotiation process, group buy launch, and reporting throughout group buy period.
  • Engaging customers through one-on-one conversations to articulate business strategy and resolve customer specific issues/concerns with group buy strategies or outcomes.
  • Interfacing with key supply chain executives and end-users to gain their participation/commitment in group buy category opportunities that address their capital needs.  Capable of securing desired outcomes through persuasion and influence.



What you need to be considered for the Senior Director, Group Buys role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher required.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience required. 
  • Must have experience in strategic sourcing and negotiating a variety of contracts in the medical capital equipment area.
  • Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to create or interpret potentially complex financial models.
  • Excellent oral, written communication skills, and presentation skills. Polished presentation skills are required as the position will interface with suppliers, customers and represent HealthTrust at industry events.
  • Some travel may be required.
