Job Description:

The Infection Preventionist promotes and delivers high quality, patient-centered care by assisting with the administration of Infection Prevention policies, procedures and programs. As a member of the Infection Prevention program and team, the Infection Preventionist identifies, investigates, reports, and monitors the incidence of nosocomial infections among patients and personnel, and implements policies and procedures to prevent cross-contamination. The Infection Preventionist is also responsible for assisting with in-service programs related to infection prevention and infection control, and with the clinical aspects of the Employee Health Program, including pre-employment processing, occupational health testing and surveillance.

Qualifications

  • BSN, BS Medical Technologist, or Master's in Public Health or Epidemiology.
  • 2 years previous experience in Infection Prevention preferred OR
  • 3-5 years clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse, or medical technologist in Microbiology, Public Health or Epidemiology.
  • Current Florida State Registered Nurse license or Medical Technologist.
  • Certification in Infection Control preferred; required to obtain certification in Infection Control with 2 years after hire.
