What will you be doing?
 
The Behavioral Health Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.  The tasks and responsibilities include:
 
  • Performs/documents physical/mental assessment according to policy and procedure for patients with unit’s Scope of Care.
  • Analyzes pertinent data, communicates findings and documents information accurately                                                                                                                  
  • Utilizes equipment and performs special procedures relevant to unit.
  • Organizes and prioritizes nursing care for a routine patient care assignment.
  • Administers medication following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Under the direction of an RN, updates/documents discharge planning and patient teaching  involving patient/significant other in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team
  • Acquires/maintains current knowledge pertinent to nursing practice in unit’s Scope of Care
  • Communicates effectively and professionally
  • All other duties as assigned by Registered Nurse and/ or Nurse Management.
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:           
  • Required:  Graduate of accredited School of Nursing with current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Virginia. Current BLS.
  • Preferred:  Current LPN license and enrolled in Registered Nurse program. 
 
EXPERIENCE 
  • Preferred:  One year experience in area of clinical expertise of which applying.
