Seeking an Infection Preventionist II to join our team. The Infection Preventionist II participates in the development, implementation, and coordination of an ongoing program for surveillance, prevention and control of infections among patients, employees, visitors and medical staff.
What you will do in this role:
Implements the MHS wide implementation of infection surveillance and prevention program by actively participating in system level committees.
Analyses complex infection prevention and performance improvement data, develops solutions, makes recommendation and implements changes to prevent healthcare associated infections and improve patient safety.
Oversees the review and revision of existing MHS infection prevention policies to maintain currency and compliance with published guidelines and best practices, where applicable, with emphasis on impact on critical hospital and system operations and functions.
Coordinates with other MHS departments to facilitate implementation and evaluation of the effectiveness of the infection prevention program in order to maintain continual readiness in meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements
Demonstrates a strong knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal regulation and guidelines regarding infection prevention matters, as well as requirements by accrediting and licensing bodies.
Supports the MHS Infection Control Committee in its deliberation and and activities, to include facilitation of meeting times and places, agenda development and other matters, as needed.
Assists in the standardization of MHS infection prevention policies, across all MHS functions and facilities, where applicable.
Monitors own productivity and quality, and identifies opportunities for improvement. Sets goals with timelines for completion.
Participates in infection prevention activities in the community through membership in professional organizations and keeps abreast of new developments, issues and current literature, as well as requirements for infection prevention from local, state federal, regulatory and accreditation bodies.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education:
Seven years of infection prevention experience required with bachelors degree in public health, nursing, epidemiology or other health-care related field (e.g, biology, chemistry, biostatistics), or four years of infection prevention experience with masters degree in a health care related field. Two years of recent infection prevention experience in an acute care hosptial setting required.
Working knowledge of statistics and epidemiological principles required. Computer skills required include proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, power point and graphic display programs, as well as a level of comfort with learning and adapting to new programs
Post-graduate courses in epidemiology, infection prevention or disease control preferred. Completion of CDC or APIC sponsored infection prevention training desirable. Supervisory and managerial experience desirable.
Required computer skills include proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, power point and graphic display programs, as well as a level of comfort with learning and adapting to new programs. Two years recent experience in hospital infection prevention preferred. Completion of CDC or APIC sponsored infection prevention training desirable. Working knowledge of statistics and epidemiological principles desirable.
