The Life of an HCA Nurse

PreOp & PACU nurses provide compassionate care to pre & post-anesthesia patients. They are often the first person patients see after a major surgery. They have high-level critical thinking skills, vast clinical knowledge, and excellent communication skills.

 

About this unit:

  • Team work!! The culture that surrounds us in the ODS/PACU is not only one of great patient care, but the feeling of true support by those who work beside you.
  • Supportive nurse leaders, experienced Charge RNs & exceptional physician support.
  • Typical work schedule would provide 2 day shifts per week; limited call requirements (3 shifts ave per month)

 

Responsibilities:
  • Under the general direction of the Director or Manager, coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care. 
  • Nursing care is provided in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, and the generic and unit structure standards. 
  • The Registered Nurse in department 701 Surgery provides care for birth to pediatric, pediatric/child patients between 1 to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.

Qualifications

What Qualifications You Will Need: 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Current RN licensure required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. BLS certification required. ACLS & PALS required within 90 days of employment.
  • Prior experience required. Previous clinical experience in area of specialty preferred.
