Job Summary and Qualifications

HCA Healthcare ITG

Job Summary:

Positioned within the Information Technology Group (ITG) at HCA Healthcare’s Physician Service Group (PSG), this leader is responsible for the Lab Service Line across all HCA Healthcare Divisions. The leader will serve as the ITG executive within the PSG Hospital Based Providers - Lab Service Line leadership team as well as a critical leader within the PSG ITG organization. This role includes the development and delivery of strategic solutions that improve the daily efforts of our laboratory professionals across the enterprise. Requires clear coordination and communication of effort across Corporate and Division entities working as one team. Responsible for laboratory systems and solutions across multiple care settings including hospitals, centralized labs, free-standing ERs, etc. Directs the efforts of the PSG ITG Lab Service Line team to deliver effective technology for the solutions and infrastructure deployments across HCA Divisions. Primary duties included assembling, building and developing the necessary ITG team to implement and support solutions and technology across the enterprise. Duties also include the successful deployment and support of solutions and technology in the space of the Lab Service Line to align with business objectives. The leader will be responsible to lead the ITG team to not only monitor performance of our technology and solutions, but actively take action to minimize disruptions. This leader requires exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and will be interfacing directly with the PSG executive team, ITG executive leadership, COG executive team and Division CIOs.

  • ITG Lab Service Line – National Group and their respective teams

General Responsibilities:

  • Overall Technology/Application Strategy and ongoing Performance Management within the Lab Service Line
  • Executive Presentation of Projects and Status to Customers and Leadership
  • Manages Resource and Staff Sourcing from ITG and other external vendors
  • Responsible for overall vendor management for our lab technology solutions
  • Leads Contract Negotiations for all technology service vendors
  • Leads Issue resolution activities as well as overall communication with parts of the organization as to the action items being addressed
  • Able to advise leadership clearly on issues relevant to overall strategy and potential Risks
  • Overall Resource Management (resource planning and time tracking)
  • Overall Portfolio Management and status updating on lab service line projects
  • Ensure adherence to standard HCA ITG policies, processes and procedures
  • Responsible for guiding the budgeting process and effectively managing the budget for Lab Service Line
  • Responsible for setting direction of the usage of solutions that work in conjunction with PSG and Corporate chosen applications
  • Responsible for the interim support and service of any non-standard systems acquired by PSG
  • Responsible for the development and utilization of metrics to measure productivity and effective operational processes
  • Responsible to define and maintain staffing ratios to support the business operations
  • Responsible for building effective teams by hiring individuals that possess the necessary skills and represent the company's values
  • As a member of the PSG ITG leadership team, responsible for participating in the discussion and decisions that affect the entire ITG organization
  • Leads research in new technologies that eventually help us decide on best options to bring forward
  • Responsible for growing, coaching and mentoring leaders, developers and/or other team members in various settings
  • Responsible for responding effectively to audits
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Some travel required but generally less than 25%.
  • Typical workweek hours can vary depending on workload, outages, or project deliverables.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Required
  • Master’s Degree – Preferred
  • 5+ years of experience leading large, full life-cycle technology solutions at a Director level – Required
  • 10+ years of proven progressive technology experience – Required
  • Experience preferred with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
  • Experience preferred with multiple EHRs (Electronic Health Records)
  • Experience executing corporate level priorities with associated budgets and deadlines
  • Experience building up and leading a progressive team that expects exceptional service delivery

Other Qualifications:

  • Solid working knowledge of Hospital and Ambulatory lines of business and of Corporate ITG Structures
  • Solid working knowledge of managing both clinical and technical issues and teams
  • Solid working knowledge of an enterprise technology where there are numerous Divisions across the US with select data centers strategically positions to serve each user
  • Strong leadership skills with excellent communication and inter-personal skills with Senior Leadership
  • Proven leadership ability with strong development processes and practices experience background. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
