The Special Procedures Technologist is responsible for operating the imaging equipment and producing radiographs according to the standards and practices set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The Special Procedures Technologist assists the radiologist or physician to perform interventional procedures. The Special Procedures Technologist demonstrates knowledge of the human structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic sciences, radiation protection and specialized techniques unique to the Special Procedures environment. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary of medical ethics.
Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards. One year experience as specials tech.
Preferred: Associates Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology. Two years’ experience as a Special Tech in a hospital setting.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Preferred: Post primary certification in Cardiovascular-Intervention Technology
