Job Summary and Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY 

The System Engineer II’s role is to provide expertise and execution in build and integration of systems and platforms. The candidate will work closely with the Manager of System Engineering, senior System Engineers, Customer Engagement, Architecture and Planning, and Product Development team leaders as well as with HCA IT&S Service Management & Delivery and Information Security teams. Candidates provide engineering skills that cover a broad range of IT disciplines including system, database and website administration, network system setup and programming. Candidates are expected to be capable of meeting objectives with very little supervision. We need motivated, independent workers who can work well within a team, effectively communicate thoughts and ideas, and bring a high level of innovation and quality. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Leads implementation efforts of systems and platforms, delivery quality solutions in a timely manner in compliance with defined requirements 
  • Works with application delivery managers and application developers to deploy custom software and create automated deployment solutions 
  • Provides support to application development teams for infrastructure needs
  • Leads activities to proactively maintain and upgrade platforms and systems 
  • Responsible for defining and executing operational procedures for systems and platforms in their areas of expertise, including backups, monitoring, capacity planning, and administration 
  • Works with DBA team to integrate systems and applications with databases
  • Defines project tasks and plans and executes to project completion 
  •  Works with stakeholders to create requirements for new solutions in support of development efforts 
  • Manages documentation of infrastructure standards
  • Develops automation capabilities to automate the deployment and maintenance of systems and platforms 
  • Identify, investigate, evaluate, and quickly become proficient in new technologies and technical disciplines that are of significance to HealthTrust 

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE 

  • 3+ years

EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred 

OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS 

Required Experience: 

  • Experience in deploying technically complex infrastructure computing solutions across platforms and components 
  •  Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain documentation 
  • Specific platform knowledge in one or more key areas of Windows or Linux Server architecture, Storage platforms, Virtualization platforms, Application platforms (IIS & .NET, Sitecore, Microstrategy, Java, or Hadoop)
  • Solid understanding and experience with operating system concepts and practical implementation of those fundamentals in a large-scale production environment 
  • Support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft’s core business applications or Linux business applications, as well as virtual environments built on VMware 
  • Experience supporting custom application development 
  • Experience in system automation using powershell, command shell, scripting, database and/or application programming 
  • Proven strong critical thinking

  • Business Intelligence platform - Microstrategy 
  • Application Platforms – IIS, .NET, Sitecore, Java, SharePoint 
  • Middleware technologies – IBM IIB, IBM MQ Advanced, Datapower 
  • Database technologies – SQL Server 2014, SQL Server 2017, SSIS, SSRS
  • Configuration Management – Ansible 
  • Backup technologies – Veeam 
  • Monitoring platforms – SCOM, Solarwinds
  • Anti-virus - Trend 
  • Big Data platform - Hadoop, Spark, Kafka 
  • Search technologies - Solr
