Job Description:
The Patient Escort is responsible for the transportation of patients to and from locations throughout the Hospital, in addition to certain areas of the Professional Building, MOC, and MRI. This service is provided to the pediatric, adolescent,adult, and geriatric inpatient/outpatient population of Mercy Hospital.
  • Transports the patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed from their room or other hospital departments/locations to imaging or other locations according to established time standards.  
  • Keeps wheelchairs and stretchers in their proper location, maintains cleanliness of the equipment, and reports broken equipment immediately.         
  • Treats all persons whom we serve with respect and compassion.
  • Uses equipment safely and appropriately according to the needs of the patients. Wheelchair and stretcher wheels are always locked when transferring patients to and from bed, chair or exam table.
  • Consistently manages time in an effective manner to maximize efficiency. Punctual and ready to work at beginning of shift.  
  • Assumes miscellaneous assignments as directed by the Supervisor or Manager/Director. 


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS preferred
  • Communication, Customer service, and Computer skills. 
  • Bilingual preferred.
