SHIFT: PRN
SCHEDULE: PRN/Per Diem


Sterile Processing Technician
Schedule: PRN / Per Diem
Location: Medical City McKinney Hospital
 
 
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the care, disinfection, preparation and processing of surgical instruments needed for surgical procedures. Works closely with the nursing staff and surgical technologists to insure sterility and availability of needed instruments.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a sterile processing technician required
 
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
  • Certification strongly preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Observes universal precautions strictly
  • Decontaminates instruments, checks for proper function, assembles trays against instrument tray cards, wraps trays according to policy, and transports them for steam or Hydrogen Peroxide sterilization
  • Tests sterilizers daily using chemical and biological indicators according to policy and manufacturer’s recommendations and documents results
SPECIAL DEMANDS:
  • Organizational and time management skills required
  • Ability to function in a fast paced environment
