Position Description: Responsible for scheduling of cases for surgical services as well as serving as liaison with physicians and their staff in accessing the surgery schedule.
Serves as a receptionist for the department.
Answers all calls in a timely and polite manner, preferably within 4 rings. Assists caller, routes call or takes message.
Documents relevant information for scheduling specific procedures including special comments regarding physician requests and equipment.
Enters cancelation codes provided. Documents in log book when bloacks are given up and reason.
Uses tracker to enter informtion required for patient location.
Obtains necessary and detailed information from individual scheduling patient.
Enters information recorded into scheduling system ensuring the requested time has been held for that patient.
Confirms schedule with physicians office prior to day of surgery.
Refers problems or conflicts and questions directly to department manager.
Informs employees and staff as well as physicians and their staff, of scheduling protocol changes and updates.
Maintains constant work communication between department supervisors.
Coordinates communication/correspondance and maintains records required by state and local regulatory agencies to include OR Logs.
Enters OR staff and anesthesia providers call schedule.
Performs other functions as assigned.
