This position will be responsible for gathering and analyzing quantities and spend across the entirety of HCA’s capital development projects. Responsible for creating financial reports and identifying trends and cost reduction opportunities. This position will coordinate closely with design and construction personnel, and outside vendors like General Contractors and Subcontractors to ensure applicable cost data is collected, reviewed for accuracy, and analyzed against targeted metrics.

Additionally, this position will work collaboratively with the in house capital productivity team on targeted improvement projects.

A key responsibility is forecasting commodity and equipment spend to identify gaps between what is reported and what is modeled. Additionally, perform analysis on spend data to identify cost reduction opportunities.This position will be responsible for collecting and analyzing costs across multiple projects to identify spending anomalies and construction cost trends. This position will also be responsible for preparing financial reports and presentations on Capital Deployment’s various cost monitoring/reduction initiatives.

This position will work closely with HealthTrust Purchasing Group (HT), HCA’s a group purchasing organization, to ensure contractors are securing pricing from HT contracted vendors and capturing quoted contract vendor pricing as well as non-contracted vendor pricing.

Major Responsibilities:


  • Continuous monitoring and analysis of incoming vendor data
  • Reconcile vendor reporting with HT reporting to establish baseline data
  • Detect any flaws in the financial model and suggest appropriate corrections
  • Uses a systematic approach to continuously look for improvements, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problems


  • Produce many varying quarterly reports
  • Track, measure and maintain savings tracker process and data collection on an ongoing basis
  • Research vendors and develop vendor profiles
  • Various special projects and ad-hoc analyses as needed
  • Able to take complicated or complex information and present it in a clear, concise, and logical manner


  • Coordinate with Design and Construction managers and HT contract managers to ensure HCA partner contractors are optimizing relevant construction category agreements
  • Use general business acumen to compliment the departments other subject matter expertise
  • Foster and maintain a cooperative working relationship that will promote a high level of employee morale and esprit de corps
  • Presents with an approachable style and makes the effort to put others at ease


  • As the capital productivity team approaches problem solving, be an integral part of participating in and constructing the strategy around approach.
  • Makes astute decisions and takes timely action to address situations and capitalize on opportunities that arise


  • Coordinate project analysis of varying kinds to support capital productivity. Provide support to Preconstruction, Design and Construction as they map out their various strategies for delivering the work for below fair market pricing.
  • Work with HCA Healthcare design and construction managers, material suppliers, material distributors, general contractors, architects and all other relevant stake holders for thorough accumulation and evaluation of data.
  • Create financial reports detailing cross-project comparisons by construction category, report cost savings where applicable, evaluate and analyze variances. Analyze data on a project by project basis as well as cross projects.
  • Ability to understand different analysis objectives as stated by team and translates into appropriate assumptions for financial impact modeling.

  • Bachelor’s degree in  Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field required
  • Master’s degree in  Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field preferred
  • 7+ years in data, business or financial analytics 
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, etc.)
  • Experience with analytics and modeling tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written communication.
  • Extreme attention to detail is critical.
  • Strong customer service orientation, teamwork and relationship building skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize multitasks, adapt, and respond effectively in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated group leadership abilities.
