Coordinator – Infection Control

 

As a vital member of the HCA Healthcare System, HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland which offers 33 licensed beds and shares the strength of more than 165 hospitals across the United States and England, including The Woman’s Hospital of Texas and HCA Healthcare Clear Lake.

The hospital is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center. 

 

What you will do in this role:

  • The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for identifying health and safety risk factors associated with a hospital environment which may impact illnesses or injuries associated with patients and/or healthcare workers.
  • The Infection Prevention Coordinator plays a role in eliminating health and safety risk factors in a systematic and cost effective manner.
  • When performing clinical care, the staff member in this job category is responsible for consideration of developmental issues of assigned populations in each of the age groups identified in the Position Responsibility section.                                                           
  • Assists with administering Environmental Health Programs in collaboration with, all departments, Management Leadership and designated hospital committees.
  • Gathers relevant information systematically as it relates to biological, physical and environmental hazards associated both with the patient and the healthcare worker
  • Applies knowledge and skills related to growth and development over the life span with a focus on identifying special precaution for different age groups, identifying possible sources or signs of infectious processes and/or hazardous working conditions and related activities.

Qualifications

What qualification you will need:

License / Certifications / Requirements                                                         

  • If a nurse, current Texas licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.                                                                              

Education:                                                  

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field.
  • Preferred Board Certification in Infection Control or degree in Public Health.                                                                                                            

Experience:                                                

  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience required. 
  • Prior infection control experience.
