The Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors Hospital is looking for a Certified Medical Dosimetrist to provide high quality, cutting edge, compassionate patient centered care for our patient population. We are extremely team focused and interactive within the department.  We currently boast 2 Linacs (TrueBeam and Trilogy), a dedicated CT simulator, HDR program, and SRS/SBRT programs. We use the latest ARIA/Eclipse planning software. Our Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The duties and responsibilities of the Certified Medical Dosimetrist include but are not limited to:

  • Applies knowledge and skills in advanced treatment planning techniques; working in association with Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist.
  • Provides input about simulation of patients that are scheduled to be CT simulated or are currently being CT simulated to help accurately localize treatment area under the direction of the radiation oncologist.
  • Serves as Radiation Safety Technologist.
  • Provides supervision, guidance and education for simulation/dosimetry therapists and radiation therapy technology students.
  • Works with other Radiation Therapist,  Dosimetrist, Radiation Oncologist, and Medical Physicist to troubleshoot and problem solve clinical setups or quality issues.
  • Checks charts weekly and verifies total dose(s) delivered upon completion of each course of therapy.
  • Responsible for technical component of stereotactic radiosurgery program.
  • Responsible for relaying all information pertinent for treatment delivery to radiation therapists.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

Required -        Two to five years radiation therapy experience

Preferred-         Two years in simulation and/or dosimetry

EDUCATION

Required -        Medical Dosimetry Certification Board certification.

                         Graduate of JCERT accredited school.                                                                               

Preferred -        Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology and/or radiation therapy
