University Hospital and Medical Center is a 317-bed acute care hospital offering a wide range of surgical and medical services as well as an academic teaching center for Behavioral Health. Job Summary:

  • Demonstrates awareness of an respect for patient/family/SO needs in relation to confidentiality, privacy, security, complaint resolution and spiritual and cultural needs
  • Understands the process for resolution of ethical issues and how to initiate an ethics consult and implements as needed
  • Serves as an advocate for the patient/family/SO to ensure patient rights are upheld
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in the performance of patient monitoring responsibilities in accordance with Department/Unit Standards and patient's orders
  • Evaluates behavioral observation/changes in patient status – coordinates and implements interventions with treatment team
  • Continuously prioritizes patient and milieu needs based on assessment/evaluation; again implements with treatment team
  • Demonstrates an ability to exercise independent judgment in time of need and emergency situations
  • Performs comprehensive psychosocial assessments upon patient admission


  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology required
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required
  • 1-3+ years of experience working within Behavioral Health settings, preferably within an acute hospital setting
  • Experience conducting individual, group, family, and marital therapy
  • BLS Certification
