From heart attack to stroke to gunshot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, or just fractured bones, ER staff see it all. Emergency Services Technicians, under direct supervision of the registered nurse, learn to assist in quickly triaging patients based on immediate observation and acute assessment skills, then to treat symptoms in order of life-threatening priority.

Responsibilities:
  • Under direct supervision of the Manager and close direction of a registered nurse, administers patient care and related activities, services and/or procedures to promote the physical and emotional health and personal comfort needs for assigned patients. 
  • Delivery of patient care includes data collection, documentation, communication and implementation of patient care interventions in accordance with state Nursing Practice Acts and generic/unit structure standards.
  • The Emergency Care Technician will perform all duties identified in their job description and will be validated by competency assessment. 
  • They will serve as a member of the healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested. 
  • The Emergency Care Technician will provide for patient safety, will attend meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy; and maintain competence with the charting system. 
  • Specific duties for the Emergency Care Technician will include performing the following:  Accucheck, 12 Lead IKG, Rapid Urine Pregnancy Screening, Splinting; Phlebotomy, Point of Care Testing; 1:1 and close observation monitoring, and stocking rooms.

Qualifications

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required. 

  • BCLS certification required and maintained. 

  • Must have one of the following Certifications/Licenses: Certified Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, MO Certified Nurse Assistant.

  • Prior experience as a military medic accepted.
