Position Summary: Under direction of the Program Manager/Director of Oncology, the Department Assistant performs a variety of clerical and receptionist activities for the Oncology Department at our Salem, NH location.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Manage provider schedule in EMR, i.e., time off, appropriate dx scheduling, schedules full, no shows called, etc.
  • Scheduling of testing, i.e., imaging, labs, referrals to other providers
  • Daily utilization of e-mail for communication
  • Attention to detail, example, patient scheduling, pathology tracking, provider requests, etc.
  • Prior authorizations, disability paperwork
  • Answers telephones and handles calls in an appropriate manner
  • Meets and greets patients and visitors
  • Performs general clerical duties including but not limited to: copying, faxing, mailing and filing
  • Maintains front office area to be neat, orderly and patient-friendly.
  • Ordering supplies
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain a safe environment
  • Promotes internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Builds and promotes a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Attendance: works as scheduled and is compliant with Attendance and Tardiness Policy.

Qualifications

Education & Qualifications:

  • Required: Proficient with Microsoft Office and telephone protocols; computer literate with ability to learn new software applications.
  • Preferred: High school diploma or GED
  • Must exhibit quality communication skills with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
