Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Accreditation and Program Improvement will be a key member of the HCA Healthcare GME team that contributes to the company’s mission and vision for graduate medical education by supporting the ongoing new program development and program improvement for the HCA Healthcare GME service line. This role will focus on ACGME requirements and how they impact both new and continued program and sponsoring institution accreditation. This position directly supports the HCA Healthcare GME Corporate AVP for Accreditation. 

    • With AVP, creates system of accreditation oversight for new programs in initial accreditation and programs in continued accreditation 
    • Directs the enterprise-wide review process for program readiness and sponsoring institution readiness as it relates to meeting requirements and continuing accreditation site visits 
    • Interface with Procurence Risk Management tool/system to oversee programs and identify early warning signs for programs, including focus on data accuracy 
    • Audits and evaluates programs for compliance with GME requirements as needed 
    • Administers Special Review process for all programs in “warning” status and for all programs found to be underperforming. 
    • Helps to direct and support GME new program growth and program maintenance enterprise-wide. 
    • Manage site visit preparation with the AVP of Accreditation and SWATeam. 
    • Supports implementation of new program growth strategy. 
    • Ensures various stakeholders contribute appropriately and maximize utilization of resources, standardization of program development and the efficient use of external consulting support • Assesses credentials of potential program directors with PSG and other hiring entities. 
    • Is responsible for the accuracy of Division new program development project plans and ensures accurate documentation and follow through of action items 
    • Organizes support for program and sponsoring institution accreditation activity and the interface with external consultants engaged to support same 
    • Regularly audits the accuracy of sponsoring institution or program information in any and all accreditation systems, including helping DIOs/Institutional Coordinators oversee annual webADS updates. 
    • Supports the sponsoring institution by participating in educating the Designated Institutional Officer and/or institutional coordinator to prepare for GMEC meetings, including required documentation 
    • Supports programs by guiding program directors and program coordinators in organizing and documenting PEC and CCC meetings, including training to ensure meetings are conducted appropriately and documentation for all meetings is maintained 
    • Helps set the annual calendar for program site visit reviews • Participate in local, regional and national activities on behalf of HCA GME 
    • In coordination with the AVP of Accreditation, works to ensure Annual Program Evaluations and Annual Institutional Reviews are completed for all programs/institutions 
    • Monitors residency management tool to ensure updated information for each program is maintained 
    • Takes on tasks to support the entire GME structure as needed 


A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s Degree/MBA preferred. 


• Minimum of seven years of GME experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience managing and operating complex structures is preferred 

• Effective working knowledge of healthcare systems 

• Command of the ACGME requirements related to accreditation of new programs/sponsoring institutions and maintenance of accreditation for existing programs/sponsoring institutions
