Southern Hills Hospital is located in Southwest Las Vegas just off the I-215 and Durango/Sunset exit. The facility is an accredited 252-bed acute care hospital providing emergency and pediatric emergency services, a behavioral health (geriatric psychiatric) inpatient and outpatient program serving ages 50 and older, accredited Chest Pain Center, a Certified Primary Stroke Center, a dedicated orthopedic and spine unit, OB-GYN, Level II NICU, diagnostic imaging and surgical services.  Southern Hills Hospital was voted the Best Hospital in Las Vegas.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Health Coordinator will work as member of the intake department in support of the department and also responsible for the mental health court process.   Other duties include answering telephone calls, front desk reception, assisting with visitor and patient check-in and clerical duties within the intake and other departments as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • College graduate preferred in social services (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc.) or healthcare administration or related field from an accredited school.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the behavioral health field
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Experience with telephone systems

Certification/License:

  • CPI certification within 30 days of hire

Duties Include But Not Limited To:

  • Display courteous attitude to patients, families, visitors and co-workers
  • Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, management, external and internal customers in all situations
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of patient information with all members of the treatment team and the mental health court system
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.  Support the mission of the hospital
  • Takes responsibility to enhance personal and professional growth
  • Maintain personal educational record
  • Maintain thorough documentation following hospital policy and procedures and Joint Commission standards
  • Accurately maintain the patient medical record
  • Use Meditech proficiently
  • Accept assignments as directed by supervisor
  • Accept responsibilities of job and unit (including clerical)
  • Attend staff meetings or review meeting notes
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining efficiency on the units
