Gulf Coast Division Office - Houston, Texas

Simulation Specialist 


HCA Houston Healthcare is part of HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division, a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities in the Gulf Coast Division include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center that provides one phone call access and support for patient transfers into and out of the HCA Gulf Coast Division affiliated hospitals as well as access to ground and air transportation within a 150-mile radius. As the Simulation Specialist you will have an essential role in facilitating medical simulation. You will be responsible for integrating, maintaining and operating the computer and audio-video (AV) technology including manikin and surrounding simulation lab equipment.

  • You will be responsible for the maintenance of all equipment and timely ordering and availability of supplies
  • You will monitor and ensure simulation and education based technologies are maintained to ensure minimal downtime.
  • You will have the ability to assess equipment failures and remedy such failures in a timely fashion.
  • You will contribute to the development of curriculum and educational materials for different levels and types of training related to simulation.
  • You will interface with the equipment manufacturers regarding trouble-shooting equipment and systems problems and implementing hardware and software updates in a timely basis.
  • You will foster a Service Excellence culture.
  • You will evaluate simulation and education based technology to identify opportunities for improvement and communicates the opportunities to immediate supervisor.
  • You will operate or assist with the operation of the simulators and task trainers for all training sessions as needed or requested by their supervisor or clinical educators that are leading the simulation training session.
  • You will be responsible for the use of the Simulation Lab and equipment; provides consultation and orientation to instructors regarding simulation laboratory procedures, location and use of materials, and the operation of equipment.
  • You will assist with scheduling and coordination of the medical simulators.


What qualification you will need:

  • 1+ year(s) of experience in a simulation lab with simulation software and mannequins: Required
  • Familiarity with operation of personal computers is essential. Familiarity with medical terminology and audio visual equipment is desirable: Required



  • Associate's degree or certified Emergency Medical Technician: Required
  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in healthcare and healthcare technology: Preferred
  • Certification Healthcare Operations Simulation: Preferred
