SCHEDULE: Full-time


Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center is a 133-bed facility that opened June 7, 2010.  Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services including emergency, women’s services, orthopedic, cardiac care and behavioral health services.  Our surgical services include robotic-assisted technology, allowing our surgeons to operate with the tiniest incisions and with greater vision, precision and control.

Develops, implements, and maintains a reporting system for hospital associated infections, communicable diseases, and other reportable infections, including quality data collection and analysis.

Coordinates and manages the Infection Prevention/Control Committee activities. 

Maintains communication with hospital staff and administration regarding detection and surveillance of possible hazardous situations. Accomplished through frequent (daily) department rounds.

Reports/participates at least quarterly to Quality Committee, Infection Prevention/Control Committee, Patient Safety and associated task force committees, EOC, and other committees as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, microbiology or epidemiology OR five years of clinical or infection prevention experience, preferably in an inpatient setting or disease surveillance experience in a public health setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer skills in a Windows operating environment; data analysis and spreadsheet skills (Excel, etc.)

                       

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a RN in Virginia or current multi-state compact RN license with eligibility to practice in Virginia
  • Infection Control management experience

                       

 

EDUCATION

                        Required - Bachelor’s degree in nursing, microbiology or epidemiology

 

                        Preferred - Master’s or graduate degree (e.g. MSN or MPH)

Completion of an Infection Control course offered through the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) or equivalent

 

CERTIFICATION

 

Required - Certification in Infection Control (CIC), or able to obtain within two years of hire

American Heart Association BLS or CPR through American Red Cross
