SHIFT: Evenings (rotating weekends)
SCHEDULE: Full-time

Assists in the restraint or position of patients for blood collection procedures.  Performs venipunctures, heel sticks and finger sticks to obtain blood samples for testing purposes.  Skilled in the collection of other specimens such as clean catch urine, nasal/throat swabs, drug screens, therapeutic phlebotomies, etc.  May be asked to learn and perform appropriate point of care testing.  Performs related clerical duties to include:  answering telephones, relaying messages, mailing or faxing of patient reports, unpacking supplies, and any other duties within their scope of training and education required by the laboratory supervisor.  Assists with orientation and in-service training of employees and students.  Maintains all annual competencies associated with job related duties. Maintains confidentiality of all information.

Education:     High School Diploma or GED
Experience:  1-2 years phlebotomy and specimen processing or certification through clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience.
Licenses/Certificates:  Current Basic Life Support certification required through American Heart Association  (may be obtained within 30 days of hire). Preferred Certified Laboratory Phlebotomy Technician thru ASPT.
