Occupational Therapist shall be responsible for providing a full range of occupational therapy services including planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position’s qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards.

Pre-admission: Participate in pre-admission screening as requested. Pre-admission screening is completed according to policy and procedure.
Conduct Initial Assessments – Chooses the appropriate assessment tools, adaptive equipment, and material/props to be used. Patient assessment is completed and in the medical record as outlined in policy and procedures. Record data in appropriate areas.
Short and long term goals are individualized, written objectively, and are measurable. Interventions are selected based on assessment results and are appropriate for age, cognitive abilities, and/or developmental level of the patient.
Interventions are selected and applied to support the interdisciplinary rehabilitation plan as evidenced by goal achievement. Consult with physician regarding referrals for other services as needed.
Provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions – Demonstrates understanding of contraindications and precautions with the application of modalities based on the patient’s age and associated risk factors. Communicates with patient in understandable terms.
Evaluate patient and family response to treatment – Patient response to the treatment plan is evaluated as evidenced by patient achievement of goals and/or goal revision, the treatment plan is updated as needed. Information is provided to patient/family.
Document the course of patient care including progress made and continuing need for treatment – Interventions and effects, weekly progress notes, and discharge summaries are documented daily according to policy and procedure.
Provide patient/family education on tasks and resources integrating family members into treatment, educational, and discharge planning for a safe transition home, and to ensure continued care needs are met.
Coordinate treatment activity with other disciplines and team members. Participates in clinical staffing and provides/seeks input to/from others on patient care. Uses and updates unit communication methods in a timely manner.
Function as a resource for and provide team members with inservice/cross-training on occupational therapy knowledge and skill areas. Attends inservice sessions. Leads inservice sessions as requested/volunteered. Orients other staff to rehabilitation unit.

Qualifications - External

Bachelor's degree Occupational Therapy Required
1+ year(s) of experience in occupational therapy Preferred
Basic Cardiac Life Support Require
