Nuclear Medicine Technologist – Imaging
 

HCA Houston Healthcare West is a full-service 266 bed hospital that provides a range of health services. It is recognized as a Certified Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and, under an affiliation agreement with The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, brings to its community The Woman’s Hospital of Texas at West Houston, a three-story cardiac and critical care tower. The Sugar Land Cancer Center and the Sugar Land Diagnostic Center, departments with HCA Houston Healthcare West, are located on the Southwest Freeway at the Williams Trace and Sugar Lakes exit.

 

HCA Houston Healthcare West is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

 

What you will do in this role:

  • Under the general direction of the Director and Manager of Imaging Services and the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for the provision of Nuclear Medicine Imaging to patients in accordance with physicians' orders. 
  • The Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides for patient safety and high quality testing. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required to interact with patient, physicians, visitors, and other staff members.  Rapidly changing work demands require an ability to handle high stress environments.
  • Prepares patients for Nuclear Medicine exams, explains procedure and ensures technical quality.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, adhering to policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Demonstrates ability to accurately provide quality Nuclear Medicine examinations in a timely manner.
  • Is able to handle high volume, high stress situations.
  • Has exceptional critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education.
  • Upholds the highest standards of customer service at all times (“customer” includes patients, family members, co-workers, referring physicians, etc.).
  • Actively participates in Performance Improvement (P.I.) activities established by the Imaging Department.
  • Possesses knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to work accurately within the Imaging Department.
  • Serves as a mentor and resource to less experienced staff/students.
  • Completes other tasks and activities as assigned.
  • Adheres to the Customer Service Principles of West Houston Medical Center

Qualifications

What qualifications you will need:

  • Associates, Diploma or BSRT degree in Radiologic Technology, with additional training in Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Previous experience in Nuclear Medicine in a clinic or hospital setting is preferred.
  • Current NM registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or C.N.M.T.
  • Current licensure by the Texas Department of Health as an MRT
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
