Central Florida Regional Hospital is currently seeking a Telecom Operator to join our Communications team. This position will be PRN, As Needed.
Position Summary: To professionally and efficiently answer and connect all calls to the areas requested. To assist all business/patient/staff in a professional manner while assisting in the daily operations of the communications department.
Reports all telephone repair problems to appropriate areas as directed in department procedures.
Monitors all alarm indicators and enunciators located in PBX operator room: Medical gas alarm, Oxygen line pressure, Fire alarm panel, UPS malfunction panel. Reports immediately to Engineering department when monitors go into alarm.
Monitors CODE BLUE indicators and dedicated CODE BLUE phone line at switchboard. Responds immediately if alarms activate as authorized in departmental procedures.
Monitors CODE BLUE system. Responds immediately if alarm activates as authorized in departmental procedures.
Announces other codes as per department procedure immediately upon notification.
Maintains records of keys located in department; log keys in/out, reports lost/broken keys to Lead Registrar.
Uses two-way radio to contact security.
Uses beeper for both in-house and off-premises message.
Records information into Communication Journal, includes Codes, customer/employer complaints, equipment problems/repairs, notable accidents, safety issues and concerns, and any other information that needs to be communicated to other shifts.
Assists with and records all long distance calls handled for patients and authorized personnel as authorized.
Reports supply and equipment needs to Supervisor.
Locates interpreters for non-English speaking individuals as needed, using the translator list.
Education: HS Diploma/GED
Experience: Previous Telecom Operator/PBX experience is preferred.
