The Director ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall function and staffing of the unit(s)/department(s) in addition to forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring. The Director fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration and supports the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures in support of facility objectives.

 

  • You will cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes. Ensure adherence to standards of care.
  • You will manage variation in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost. Ensure a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care.
  • You will stay abreast of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations and actively pursues efforts to achieve.
  • You will stay abreast of legal and regulatory standards and ensures compliance. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with all legal/regulatory standards.
  • You will ensure efficient patient throughput and delivery of high quality, patient-centered care through volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning.
  • You will develop care coordination policies and procedures to promote improved quality, safety, and efficiency in care.   You will foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration within and across departments and ensures staff with appropriate clinical competencies are assigned to meet patient care needs.

 

  • You will direct nursing practice and unit operations.  Develop policies, procedures, and nursing standards to ensure patient and family needs are assessed, met, and evaluated.
  • You will provide leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience.
  • You will instill accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions that differentiate the organization as a healthcare leader.
  • You will leverage various feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and identify opportunities to improve customer/patient satisfaction. Develop and implement strategies to elevate the patient experience.
  • You will foster a culture that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization. Ensure employees are recognized, valued, and supported. Develop and implement strategies to elevate employee engagement.
  • You will collaborate with administrative team and physicians to enhance existing services or develop new service offerings.
  • You will participate in the annual budget process, including input into department revenue and expense forecasts, staffing, and supply and equipment needs. Monitor department budget performance; identifies trends and evaluates variances in relation to established budget. Develop and implement actions to address performance gaps.

 

St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, which is part of St. David’s HealthCare, is a 425-bed multi-specialty, acute care facility dedicated to the highest level of women’s health services, including maternity and newborn care with Level I, II and III nurseries at the adjacent St. David’s Women’s Center of Texas. The facility also features a 24-hour emergency department, the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, the Bariatric Center, Heart and Vascular Center, neurology and neurosurgery, a kidney transplant program, inpatient and outpatient surgery and acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, among many others. St. David’s North Austin Medical Center is also home to St. David’s Children’s HospitalSt. David’s Surgical Hospital, which opened in October 2016, is a campus of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center.

Qualifications

LEVEL OF FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, health care administration, business, or related field.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Currently licensed in the state of Texas as a Registered Nurse or identified compact state license. (*If compact license, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire or establishment of Texas residency).  BLS Certification

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1+ year of experience in healthcare including 1+ year of experience in leadership role.  3+ years of experience in healthcare including 3+ year of experience in leadership role- preferred.
