Nurse Practitioner – Palliative Care

  • 24 Hour Level III Trauma Emergency Department
  • Cardiology
  • Open Heart Surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • Endoscopy
  • Imaging
  • Women’s Services
  • Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit



What you will do in this role:


• The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner position functions as an advanced practice registered nurse with prescriptive authority and provides all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatment and consultation.

• The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner role models compassionate communication with patients, physicians and the interdisciplinary team.  

• The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner position provides education to patients about their disease process and prescribed treatments.

• Assist with the developed of the palliative care program and coordinates all palliative care department initiatives.

• Provides services related to health maintenance and promotion, palliative care.

• Provides services related to health maintenance and promotion, palliative care and end of life care. 


Qualifications - External

What qualification you will need:


• Master’s degree in Science of Nursing required. 

• Advance Practice Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas required. 

• Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification required. 

• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BLCLS) and Certification

• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification

• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

• Certification in Palliative Care and Hospice. Obtained within 9 months of hire.

• Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience. Preferred minimum of 2 years in Advance Practice role.
