Facility Description:

Oviedo Medical Center, a 64-Bed, acute care hospital provides a full range of healthcare services to east Seminole County and surrounding communities. Services include medical and surgical inpatient units, intensive care, medical cardiology, telemetry, inpatient and outpatient surgery, women’s services including labor and delivery, cardiopulmonary services, cardiac catheterization, comprehensive diagnostic imaging and 24/7 emergency care.

Position Summary:

Provides leadership and directs functions of assigned patient care area on a 24 hour basis; ensure effective delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership and demonstrates responsibility and accountability for the delivery of safe, quality, patient care for assigned departments on a 24 hour basis.  Ensures department's standard of nursing practice, nursing policies and procedures meet legal, and all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Oversees effective discharge planning through coordination with physicians and case management. Ensures staff provides appropriate discharge instructions, information, explanation, and referral to appropriate community resources.
  • Communicates and interacts with patients, families and others in a caring, empathetic, courteous, and respectful manner. 
  • Continuously evaluates work process and design; understands role in ensuring quality/performance improvement, productivity, and service delivery to meet stakeholder needs.

Qualifications

  • Current Florida State Registered Nurse license
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred
  • Minimum 3 year RN experience in acute care setting; 1 year supervisory experience preferred
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) required
  • Current TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required
  • Current NIHSS (National Institute Health Stroke Scale) required
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training required within 6 months of new hire/transfer
