Oversee the direct frontline management of Sterile Processing Department, responsible for the staff in Central Sterile and OR Aides. Oversees training of staff and their related job functions; instrumentation training, in addition to the care, handling, processing, packaging, and required sterilization methods.
Assist with education of all staff in SPD, OR, endoscopy, ambulatory surgery, all students and residents in training. Organizes, directs and coordinates functions and activities in Surgical Services support areas including Sterile Supply, Sterile Processing, and OR Aide. Organizes and supervises the activities of Surgical Services support Sterile Supply, Sterile Processing, and OR Aide personnel to ensure that scheduled work hours are used productively.
Oversees sterilization processes, assembly and storage of medical supplies/equipment for patient care, and safe patient care services including transport, room turnover. Coordinates central supply, sterile processing and OR Aid services with operating room functions and nursing unit/area functions and other user/departments in order to provide services promptly and efficiently.
High School Graduate or equivalent
Certified Sterile Processing Technologist.
Certified IAHCSMM (Int’l Assc Healthcare Central Svc Mat Mgmt)
Certified in Sterile Processing Management preferred.
Relevant work experience in SPD preferably in a leadership capacity.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a perioperative setting.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
