Mechanic III - Plant Operations

 

HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland has been an integral part of Galveston County for more than 60 years. We offer 223 beds and services in emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, physical therapy, radiology, total joint replacements, hyperbaric medicine diagnostic/imaging services and wound care facilities.

 

HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

 
 
Provide a wide spectrum of services to the occupants of the buildings and equipment that comprise Mainland Medical Center including general repairs and maintenance, transportation of supplies and equipment as needed for the completion of required services, readiness for emergency response, and support for construction activities in a manner that promotes a consistently safe and clean environment for the provision of patient care.
 
 
What you will do in this role:
  • You will perform basis equipment and facilities maintenance, troubleshooting and repair procedures on the building grounds and equipment.
  • You will perform scheduled maintenance on physical plant equipment and utility systems.
  • You will demonstrate excellent knowledge and skills in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC components.
  • You will provide security services including incident reporting, patrol of grounds, and escort to staff to vehicles.
  • You will respond to calls from service from other departments or supervisors.
  • Adheres to and compiles with HCA's ethics and compliance policies and procedures in the Code of Conduct. Attends annual training sessions.

Qualifications

What qualifications you will need in this role:

  • 2 years previous experience requiring heating/cooling responsibilities. Experience in healthcare setting preferred
  • Ability to learn new methods including the use of a computer essential
  • Experience in building maintenance and/or construction, renovation of commercial or institutional property a plus.
  • An understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance scheduling are beneficial for a good building mechanic.
  • Good organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Maintains current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) competency annually.
