The Trauma Injury Prevention and Disaster Management Coordinator assumes accountability for developing, supporting, coordinating, and presenting trauma education/prevention activities within the hospital and at the community level.  

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Providing information to trauma program staff, patients/families and coordinating community activities to promote trauma awareness and prevention.
  • Designing, planning and implementing formal and informal education programs based on evaluations of community needs.
  • Trauma center public relations are inherent in this role. 
  • The position plays an integral role in research efforts related to trauma center data analysis and evidence based research activities.
  • Assisting and communicating with all hospitals and interacting with external healthcare institutions for emergency management planning purposes. 
  • Planning, evaluating, updating, coordinating and overseeing all activities related to planning, response and recovery for Region IX. 
  • Working with each hospitals health care discipline(s) to formulate, test and evaluate the Health and Medical response to all hazards. 
  • Participating in hospital asset typing, specialty response teams and grant funding strategies.


  • Bachelor’s required in nursing or public health related field.  Masters preferred.
  • Experience: At least 2 years in public health education and outreach required. Research/Evidenced based evaluation experience preferred. 
  • Strong public speaking skills, presentation development, communication & interpersonal skills required..
  • Knowledge of epidemiology and methods of data analysis required.
  • Skills in evidence-based data analysis, program design and implementation required.
