SCHEDULE: Full-time


Putnam Community Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dynamic team and top notch facility!

A 99-bed, acute care facility, located at 611 Zeagler Drive, in Palatka, provides the latest technology with the assurance of highly trained, caring professionals to the residents of Putnam County. The hospital serves North Central Florida with a full complement of quality healthcare services while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

The hospital provides individualized care directed to the specific needs of each patient. Putnam Community Medical Center offers an Intensive/Critical Care Unit, Step-Down Care Unit, Cardiac Cath Lab, medical and surgical units, family birthplace center, and a 24-hour emergency department. We also provide inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services.
 
BASIC FUNCTION:
  • Support PCMC’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities
  • The department charge nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable to their nursing manager/director for clinical and operational functioning of the unit.  The charge nurse assumes responsibility of managing the units clinical and operational functioning in the absence of their unit manager and/or director.

SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Consistently deliver the best in customer service and patient care.  As a team member, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors and other employees
  • Champion PCMC’s mission, vision and values; comply with the policies and procedures, ethical standards and code of conduct set forth by the company
  • Coordinates patient care assignments in the unit according to acuity, skill mix and staff availability
  • Assists in identifying and addressing educational needs of the unit including enforcement of facility policies and Core Measure initiatives
  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounds, addressing such issues as patient discharge needs. (As applicable)
  • Models and enforces behaviors that enhance the patient experience including hourly rounding, bedside shift report and timely admissions/discharges/transfers
  • Serves as a clinical resource for staff during changes in patient condition and other clinical concerns and facilitates appropriate response teams and alerts including rapid response, code blue, STP alerts, STEMI alerts and Sepsis alerts as indicated
  • Participates in at least committee.  Stays current with all mandatory education and in-services
  • Seeks additional staff for the replacement for nursing staff call-ins or increases in acuity through collaboration with the house supervisor
  • Establishes communication and rapport with physicians to include physician rounding
  • Resolves problems on a shift-to-shift basis with appropriate documentation and follow-up
  • Identifies coachable moments including behavioral and clinical and takes appropriate measures to discuss/correct/document and communicate to manager/director as appropriate
  • Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical skills and the ability to foster others to achieve the delivery of quality care
  • Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers
  • Maintains enhanced knowledge base regarding patient rights, patient privacy and PHI in order to serve as a patient and family advocate and promote compliance with these rights
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Critical Care and Emergency Departments only
  • Serves as a clinical resource in response to Rapid Response Calls, Code Blue, STP alerts, STEMI alerts and Sepsis alerts to areas indicated

Qualifications

Education: ADN required, BSN or MSN preferred.
 

Experience: Minimum 1 year acute care or specialty experience preferred.

 

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: 

Current FL RN license required or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire, Current BLS certificate, some RN positions require current PALS and/or ACLS certificate.

 

Other Minimum Qualifications:  

Demonstrated skills in organization, verbal and written communications, customer service, math, analysis, reading, following instruction, basic computer usage.  Clinical expertise.  Exemplary leadership skills.  Tactful communication skills and the ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partner’s needs.  Supervision, delegation, conflict management and team building skills. Flexible and resourceful and able to make decisions quickly
